SymbolbildKhao Lak is the quiet stretch of coast an hour north of Phuket airport — and the closest base for Thailand's most famous marine parks. The Similan and Surin Islands depart from this side (from ฿4,100 and ฿4,300 per adult), and every sea tour we run from Phuket also picks up at Khao Lak hotels.
Frequently asked questions
Which tours leave from Khao Lak?
The Similan and Surin Islands depart from the Khao Lak side — you pay the lower Khao Lak price there (฿4,100 / ฿4,300 per adult). Every other sea tour — Phi Phi, James Bond, Krabi 4 Islands, Koh Kradan, Koh Rok — departs from Royal Phuket Marina but includes free hotel pickup in Khao Lak.
When are the Similan Islands open?
The Similan and Surin national parks open from 15 October to 15 May and are closed during the monsoon months. Koh Rok and Koh Kradan follow the same season. In season, Similan and Surin run daily; overnight stays in the parks are not allowed.
Why are pickups so early?
The early-bird tours collect guests early — Similan at 6:30 from Khao Lak, Phi Phi at 5:15, Krabi at 4:30 — so the boat reaches the islands before the day-trip crowds: you see Maya Bay or Donald Duck Bay at their quietest. If that is too early, the Phang Nga canoe trip by big boat does not pick up until 9:30–10:30.
How do I book a tour from Khao Lak?
Pick a tour, choose your date and party size on the tour page, and tap 'Ask on WhatsApp' — the message is pre-written for you. We check availability with the operator and confirm in the chat, usually within a few hours. There is no online payment and nothing to prepay.
