Evenings
Simon Cabaret plays daily at 18:00, 19:30 and 21:00, VIP seats ฿1,000 (children up to 140 cm ฿800). Siam Niramit — the big stage show with dinner and transfer — is ฿2,950. Which tour on which day
On your first day, take a land tour: the Phuket Explorer starts at 8:30, which after a long-haul flight beats a boat at six. Mid-holiday, take the furthest boat trip — Similan, Koh Rok or Koh Kradan are long days and deserve a rested body. Phi Phi and Phang Nga Bay always work; both run daily. Leave the last day free: tours return in the late afternoon, and nobody enjoys a flight straight after one.
With children
The speedboats take children from age 4; ages 4 to 12 pay the child price. Gentler: the canoe trip by big boat (from age 3, a paddler steers, children ฿1,975), elephant care as a half day, and the zipline park. The cooking class is only ฿1,000 per child — the cheapest family outing on the list.
On your own
The beaches, the viewpoints — Promthep Cape, Windmill, Karon — and the markets are a taxi or scooter ride away, as are the Big Buddha and Wat Chalong. What you cannot really do without a tour: the islands. Phi Phi, Similan, Surin, Krabi and the Hong lagoons need a licensed boat, and in the national parks the ticket comes on top.
